July 2019, I was honoured to be selected as one of eight students for the week-long Snowdon Summer School, an enterprise of David Linley (Lord Snowdon), hosted at Dumfries House, Scotland, and under the expert tuition of William Warren, Jonathan Rose and Naseer Yasna (Mansouri).
Throughout the week we were tasked with creating a marquetry side table based upon the Breakfast Table, part of the Dumfries House Chippendale collection. We were able to get up-close to many incredible pieces of Chippendale furniture, and through the guidance of the tutors, understand the skills and quality expected for such high-level woodworking pieces. Our week also included tours of the house and grounds, talks from the head arborist, tours of the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Cathedral.
